Anyone can turn a profit at roulette by following one of two simple, key strategies geared at ensuring the maximum chance of winning at the roulette table.

Sit at the roulette tables long enough and you will see a waterfall of chips leaving players' hands as the house wins time and time again. Gambling, where legal, provides ample entertainment but comes with great sorrow if you do not understand how to turn a profit and win at the casino. Complex games, such as roulette, involve a massive amount of chance which is difficult to predict and follow. Professional gamblers have complex strategies geared at beating the odds at any table. Unless you are well-versed with how to read tax-manuals, reading and following the professional strategies is a massive feat. A few tips and tricks to winning at roulette and two basic methods are all that is needed to win at the tables.

Tips

Computerized Tables

Technology provided Vegas and other gambling meccas with an increased edge. Computerized roulette tables follow the same basic principles as standard roulette but the chance of winning is decreased. Computers cannot simulate the true nature of chance. A basic program generates random numbers from within a range of predefined numbers. The end result is that the virtual ball in roulette will not follow any set pattern. True roulette follows the basic laws of physics. Such things as the temperature of the room, the speed of the ball, the rotation of the table, and millions of other minor but important factors force the ball to follow a true pattern of chance allowing you an opportunity to see some basic patterns emerge. When playing roulette, avoid the computerized tables. The chance of seeing an emerging pattern and thereby winning increases when the ball is subjected to multiple influences. You may not be able to guess what number is next, but your accuracy in guessing increases.

Track the Numbers

Some roulette tables have a digital display that shows the previous 12 or more winning numbers. Those tables provide you an opportunity to see the emerging patterns. However, digital displays are not universal. Almost every casino allows you to take notes. Should the table you choose not have a digital display, carry a small notebook with you and write down the winning numbers as you play. Write down the number, the color, and the section that won in a column with the next set of numbers directly beneath the first set. The various patterns that the numbers follow grow more apparent with a long list of winning numbers.

Strategy

Winning at roulette requires only one simple strategy: bet high, mid, or low. The table is sectioned off into the first set of 12 numbers (1 through 12) or low, the second set of 12 (13 through 24) or mid, and the third set of 12 (25 through 36) or high. Betting on one of these sections provides a payout of 2:1. For example, if you place a bet that wins of $1, you collect $3 making a profit of $2 or 200% profit in three minutes time. Monitoring the numbers and how the patterns emerge offers you an opportunity to see in which section the numbers are hitting. The table rarely hits within the same section more than twice in a row and usually bounces between two sections for about three to four turns before jumping to the third section.

The simplest strategy is to bet on two of the sections with the same bet. Place one bet on the section that just hit and the second bet on one of the other two sections. Watch the numbers. The second bet should be placed as an attempt to follow the pattern of the winning numbers. For example, if the last five winning numbers are 12, 16, 32, 2 and 21, the best bets would have been low, mid, high, low, mid. Place your next set of two bets on mid, since mid just hit, and high, since high had not hit within the last two turns. Your chance of winning increases from 33%, which is the chance if you place one bet on one section, to over 75%.

As you continue to place bets and see how the numbers fall, you start to see the emerging trends. Increase your winnings occasionally by placing only one bet on high, mid, or low using a calculated guess on which section the winning number will fall. Bouncing back and forth between placing one bet at a time and two bets at a time causes your profits to be slow but steady. You will lose occasionally but win a majority of the time. Remember, there are no guarantees in roulette. The best you can hope for is an increased chance of winning.
